The Fountain Head

I read this article about the 'UGLY' buildings in India. I have always admired and been proud of the architectural variety in India. This person seems to be another one of those people who blindly favor western culture. I was purely shocked at the venom of his words. He wants to change India into another of those 'monotonous cities'. I feel there should be a proper blend of old and new, such that it gives a completely different view and people are enticed to visit India purely to admire this beauty.

PS: What does the title have to do with the above - just that I got reminded of Ayn Rand's book when I read the above.

PVS, You said you are proud of 'architectural variety in India'.

Can you give a list of buildings you are proud of.?

One restriction . Please list buildings built after we got Independence.!!

As you had said, the author has crossed a limit in expressing his thoughts.

But, somehow, I agree to the views. Our Red tape mechanisms, hv restricted our growth too much. During my recent trip to Shenzhen, I wondered how the city has developed into a vibrant one, in just 2 decades.

Definitely, I missed that development in our metros.

Narayanan, I don't mean to say that all the buildings in India are beautiful or are architectural wonders. I mean that its not right to label all our buildings as "UGLY". There is sure ample space for development, but this should not result in a copycat version of the developed nations. That is why I had mentioned this

" I feel there should be a proper blend of old and new, such that it gives a completely different view and people are enticed to visit India purely to admire this beauty.
"

in my post.
