Today's diary

Had Kambansorru (corn rice if I have to literally translate it!!) in the morning. It was heavenly. Don't understand why we lost such wonderful food in the process of urbanisation.

Kiruba felt that he had enough of blogging and called it quits. Being a person who has influenced quite a few to start blogging, its no surprise that his statement should elicit 100+ comments from bloggers around the world. His was one blog that I found had visitors other than Indians too.

Blogger needs some serious attention. It is very slow and I've not been able to post the previous two days. Even the commenting seems to have a problem.

Nothing to worry about it...

I also had the same problem. Blogger was down for more than 1 hour on Wednesday. The comments page takes ages to open.

Talking of Kambansorru, I heard a song which starts with the same word (film - vaaname ellai) in FM today.

PVS,
I don't think Kambu is Corn. I've bought kambu in India and it looks like reddish mustard seeds. Corn is Cholam.. Isn't it?

Blogger has problems on and off. Its ok now I feel.

Narayanan, what you say is correct. Corn would mean chollam. Not sure what kambu is in English. Kambansorru is made from kambu that is grey in color. The red one is used mainly as chicken feed.

Saranyan & Harish, Kambu is small grey seeds, slightly bigger than mustard. You can get it in Tamil Nadu. The seeds should be ground to form a coarse powder. For a cup of powder you would require 4 cups of water. Bring the water to boil. Add salt and the flour while stirring. Then allow it to cook. Would take some time. Kambansorru is ready. It is best served with "murunga keerai" sambar when hot and with butter milk when cold.

Havent had Kambansorru before. Kambu is something similar to Ragi right?

And yeah, blogger is having a lot of issues, they should address it right away before start leaving to 360 or something else.
